The Best Choice of the Atwoods We purchased a used travel trailer and the people who owned it previously did not winterize the water system properly (at all) and the water heater froze and burst. We knew this when we bought it. My husband, being the handy man that he is, knew he could fix it. While there were several choices in the Atwood water heaters to choose from, we opted for this one. The spark ignition was the key. It did cost more, but here’s the best part. The original water heater required you to go outside to light the pilot or turn it on. This model has a flip switch that can be mounted inside the camper to turn it on. Might not sound like much, but we turn it off at night and then turn it on in the morning when we are running off propane and battery to conserve. Total install was a couple hours, but that included trips to the hardware store for some caulk that had hardened in its tube, and getting the correct wiring plugs. One gripe would be that the wires are a bit short, but that just may be due to our install. They are only about 6″ long, so I had to make jumper wires for everything. Another thing that would have made it better is if Atwood included the connectors required to wire it to the switch and a couple screws for the mounting plate. The switch and mounting plate…
